Who we are

Our website address is: gradshow.ecuad.ca. The website is created and owned by Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Assets displayed in student projects are the exclusive property of their respective creators, and are shown on this website and other Emily Carr websites by permission their creators.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Email Newsletter Subscription

If you choose to subscribe to the Emily Carr newsletter, your email address and, at your option, name will be collected along with your IP address to facilitate the subscription.

Your email address will be provided to a third party, MailChimp, which will send the newsletter to you on behalf of Emily Carr University . Your personal information is collected under the authority of section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). MailChimp will store your email address on its server, located in the United States. For your convenience, here is the link to MailChimp’s privacy policy – http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

Account Holders

User accounts are provided to graduating students using their ECUAD email addresses and a user name. Both email and user name for the account are stored for as long as the account exists on the website.

Media + Content

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Any information added to a Student Project Page that contains personal information will be stored for as long as the creating account exists on the site. The disclosure of any information on the student project page is at the sole discretion of the student who creates the page.

Cookies

If you choose a colour dot to personalize your visit, we will store your choice of dot colour in a cookie. The pages that you visit will be changed by your choice of colour, but your visitor history will not be explicitly stored in the website with your IP address.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, which records your IP address with the time and date of your visit. If you wish to opt-out of Google Analytics you can do so with their opt-out tool for major browsers. Analytics data is used to count visitors to the Show.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

If you subscribe to the Emily Carr Newsletter, we will send the information you submit to Mailchimp.com to facilitate the newsletter subscription and email delivery. You can unsubscribe from this newsletter at any time.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
